Protecting devices from malware and viruses is essential for business continuity. This section provides instructions for installing antivirus software, activating licenses, updating the software, and performing regular scans. Learn how to keep your computers secure and prevent infections that could disrupt your workflow.

How to Install ESET Antivirus

Before starting, make sure you have the installation file and the license key that were provided to you after requesting the service.

Preparation Before Installation
  • Remove any existing antivirus software from the device to avoid conflicts.

  • Ensure the device is connected to the internet during installation.

  • Keep your license key available, as it will be required for activation.

Installing the Software
  1. Open the installation file provided to you (usually with a .exe extension).

  2. The setup window will appear. Click Install.

  3. Accept the License Agreement to continue.

  4. Select Standard Installation (recommended settings).

  5. Wait while the installer copies files and configures the protection modules.

  6. Click Finish when installation is complete.

  7. The program will launch automatically and begin its initial configuration.

How to Activate the License

After installation, the software must be activated to enable full protection.

  1. Open the antivirus program from the desktop or start menu.

  2. When prompted, select Activate using License Key.

  3. Enter the license key exactly as provided.

  4. Click Activate.

  5. The system will connect to the activation server and validate the license.

  6. Once activated, the status will change to Protected.

How to Update the Antivirus

Regular updates ensure the antivirus can detect the latest threats.

  1. Open the program.

  2. Go to the Update section from the main dashboard.

  3. Click Check for Updates.

  4. The system will download the latest virus definitions and security modules.

  5. Wait until the message Update Successful appears.

  6. Make sure Automatic Updates remain enabled.

How to Scan Your Device

Quick Scan (Routine Check)

Used for daily security checks.

  1. Open the program.

  2. Click Computer Scan.

  3. Select Quick Scan.

  4. Wait until the scan finishes.

Full Scan (Deep Inspection)

Recommended if you suspect issues or for periodic comprehensive checks.

  1. Open the program.

  2. Choose Full Scan.

  3. The system will scan all files, drives, and system areas.

  4. The process may take time depending on the amount of data.

What Happens if a Threat Is Detected?

If malware is found, the program will display options such as:

  • Clean – Attempts to safely remove the threat.

  • Quarantine – Isolates the file to prevent damage.

  • Delete – Permanently removes the file.

It is recommended to follow the action suggested by the software.

Important Best Practices

  • Do not disable Real-Time Protection.

  • Avoid installing multiple antivirus programs on the same device.

  • Keep automatic updates enabled at all times.

  • Perform regular scans even if no issues appear.

  • Protection and updates stop once the license expires.
